Joel is the fifth born in a family of seven children. They all live with their parents who are farmers. They plant maize, beans, and potatoes. The father also works in town and comes home on the weekends. Joel helps at home with fetching water, collecting firewood, and preparing meals. He enjoys playing football, listening to music, and reading. He does well in school and wants to be an engineer or a lawyer.
